If you're not up for a little gushing, you might want to click elsewhere. Right now, I must gush.
First, a little episode that made my jaw drop. My son is awake early every morning, chatting with himself and playing in his crib. Sometimes there's so much jocularity in there that my husband thinks our son has invisible friends already. Anyway, the other day our little guy was awake early, played & then fell back to sleep. When he woke up for good, I went in to get him, only to find him huddled in his crib -- wearing just a diaper. What? Somehow my 20-month old son figured out how to get out of his blanket sleeper. He had never removed any clothes by himself before. But he figured out how to unzip & remove his 2 arms & 2 legs from his sleeper. I'm thankful he hasn't figured out how to remove his diaper -- yet!
---------------------------------------------
My husband is into cars. Old cars. Classics. Fast cars. He looks at old Mustangs on eBay all the time and lusts after them. He has a 65 Ford Torino waiting to be restored. He had a bunch of other old cars, which he sold on eBay a few years back. He is a car guy.
Not only is he into the real deal; he's into miniature cars. We have miniature replicas of classic cars all over our house -- on shelves, in closets,...
Recently, our son has learned the word "cars" and has developed a fascination which quickly blossomed into what appears to be an obsession for miniature cars. He's eyeing Daddy's cars on the shelves. He wants those cars. My husband has a few little cars that aren't as special to him -- which he lets our son play with, but Daddy is also more than happy to fuel this new interest. He went to the store yesterday and returned with 10 Hot Wheels cars. And a little plastic track with loop-de-loops that you can clamp onto things. Dinner was an interruption for both my guys last night. They were busy playing with cars. The cars came to the dinner table with us. The cars and the ramp went upstairs with my son at bedtime. Throughout his bedtime stories, my son turned his head to check on his cars. "Cars? Cars?"
Those types of father-son moments make me smile. And when it's my husband and our son, it warms me from the inside out, too. I love that my husband has a son to share his interests with, and I love that my son has a father from whom he'll learn about cars and other things.
I can see that we're going to need a much bigger driveway and garage!

Those moments make a dad feel pretty good too.

it's funny how little boys turn into big boys without any prompting at all :)
In our house it's Star Wars toys.... there's a reason we have a dog and not kids....

Hello! Michele sorta sent me (turns out I don't know my alphabet as well as I'd hoped, and somehow went from E to P - go figure).
I love those moments when you can see the grown adult persona set aside for the inner kid.
At our house the current obsession is Christmas - blame it on yesterday's Santa Claus parade...

That is so sweet!
And a good thing he can't remove the diaper yet. I remember putting my daughter's jammies on backwards (non-footy kind) so she'd keep them on.

My kids used to strip down too. I never figured out how they did it. And, they did figure out how to take their diapers off too. Once it was poopy. That was disgusting.

Would you have him teach my 3 year old? All he knows is how to take off his underwear. Sigh. But those sound like wonderful moments.

Aww. That was sweet. The Cutie Patootie can et out of his shirt. I think his parents would be ecstatic to find him cooing in his crib in the morning. Morning usually finds him in bed with them.

Oh yes. I love when they figure out how to escape the confines of clothing!
Here's a horror, though. My younger one removed his clothing in his crib, too, but also removed the diaper and proceeded to tear it up. After the bath, I had to clean EVERYTHING!!

Gasp!!! Oh my, Nat. The Horror. Oh my goodness. I don't look forward to the day he pulls his diaper off & tries to rip it up!

Awwwwwww....
Yeah, the diaper will be next to go. Sooner than you think! What is really bad about it is when they do this at naptime, proceed to fall asleep, and wake up later to a pee-soaked crib! Yeesh.
