We’ve been working on manners with our son. The basics -- please, thank you, you’re welcome. Of course it doesn’t all come out like that with a not-yet-2-year-old, but he’s learning.
Imagine my surprise when I heard him say “f*ck” at the kitchen table yesterday.
My husband and I nonchalantly looked at each other, realizing we’d both heard the same thing. We didn’t show a reaction; I just reminded my hubby that we really have to watch what we say now, with a little sponge in the house. The little guy sat there eating his macaroni and cheese and said f*ck a few more times.
I’ve learned that if I look around, I can usually figure out what he’s trying to say. Sure enough – he was eating his macaroni with a spoon, which I’d given him to try instead of a fork. He’s really good with the fork but not so good with the spoon, so I thought I’d let him have a go at his tiny macaroni with a spoon.
So he was looking at his spoon, calling it a fork: F*ck.
Maybe we’ll stay away from utensils altogether next time we take him out to eat.
At least til we get past this f*cking stage.

Ah well, we say "Fork You" at our house!! ;)
I loved reading the other post about his language.. "Onnie" brought back memories of my daughter at that age. (my son, on the other hand, spoke like a 20 year old from the day he started talking. It was WEIRD!!!!)

Love it! Kids cussing is almost the funniest thing on Earth.

My kids haven't been too bad in this regard, but I do live in fear that one day they will tap into every single bad word they've ever heard and say them in front of my in-laws.

Oh you scared the cr@p out of me. I still don't know what to do if the curses start flying.
I know it will all be my fault for having introduced them.
Anyway, that is a funny happenstance :)
