Mommy Bloggers...
1. tell stories about cute things their kids have done or said. (Imagine! The horror! Sharing cuteness.)
2. write about poop (I need to check & make sure I've done this!)
3. are "self-indulgent." I actually read this somewhere. (OK, excuse me? This is different from many other types of blogs, how? And, anyway, isn't mothering one of the most selfless occupations on the planet?)
4. blog to vent about the frustrations of mommyhood. (The nerve!)
5. write to connect and support one another with the jobs of parenting & running a household. (Imagine!)
6. write about things other than their children too (What? Again, the nerve, I say!)
7. act like the sun rises and sets around their children (And, your point is?)
8. have such small worlds (I prefer to think of it as cozy, thankyouverymuch).
9. are hogging too much space on the blogosphere (huh? the space is unlimited, you say? so this isn't actually an issue? hmmm.)
10. they're so..., well..., dull! ( I'm sure it would be much more fascinating to read about my 18 years in corporate cubeville. Now that -- that's excitement right there.)
11. they're always making a stink about what would be best for their children and families. (oy!)
12. get great mileage out of the funny things their kids say, and can make hoards of people laugh. (No! Not that!)
13. get sappy sometimes and strike chords with readers.
With this post, I salute "Mommy Bloggers" everywhere! You're 'on' 24/7, may not get a paycheck in traditional currency, but rather are paid with hugs, kisses, and cries for "Mommy!"
And I thank Anita for nominating me for The Best of the Blogs in the Mommy Blog category. It's an honor to be nominated!
Have you nominated your faves for The Best of the Blogs yet? Go on! They're taking nominations through January 3rd. There are a bunch of categories too -- check 'em out!

I'm very impressed with mommies owning blogs. I wish my own mom would put up her blog too. But I guess she's not a blog person. :/
Happy holidays :)

Hey, wait a minute. I'm pretty sure I've written about poop. I hope that nobody thinks I'm a mommy. Daddy, sure, but we daddies don't talk much about the poop. It's the animals and their poop. Oh, the animal poop. :)
My list is here: http://whiskeytalking.blogspot.com/2005/12/thursday-thirteen-sort-of-resolutions.html

Happy Thursday 13! I don't have children yet, but I enjoy reading mommy blogs. It gives me a hint of things to come when I have kids and well, ya know, kids ARE funny and they DO say the darndest things.
And to those poo-pooers, they DON'T have to read mommy blogs. They can just pass them up. Pbbbbtt!!!
My 13 are up.

I like your blog, and I'm not a mommy...yet. So keep on writing about your adventures, so I can learn from you and see what I have to look forward to!

Amen to that! I read from someone once that they thought children were "overrated" and I know it was someone's opinion, but that really bothered me. I don't know why...sure, kids can be bad and make you go to bed with a headache...but to say that my children are "overrated" just hit a nerve. I'm glad they aren't going to have children, to be honest!
Anyway, sorry for such a long comment. My TT is up too - http://shizzlinlisa.blogspot.com. Have a great New Year's!!

I hear you Marie. The small worlds are the reason for the blogs, to reach out to all the others in their small worlds. It's sort of like cubicles at work when you think about it. Moms just stop by to chat at your cube via the internet by leaving comments.

How cute! Loved your 13 and you even rant cute. I think your kids will thank you in the future for capturing their childhood in such a creative way. Lazy Daisy

I'm with you, I totally don't get what the problem is with the mommyblog hate. I embraced the "self-absorption" title myself as a way to say "eff you" to the critics. ;)
Great list. They are just afraid we will take over the world is all.
Thanks for posting my link already!

Good job, hon. Love the list. IT's nice to have a "index" of sorts for some of your more prominent posts. This one totally kicks ass.
Here's my permalink, too:

It is because others are jealous that blogging mommies have the ability to manage a household, and write a blog at the same time! If they don't like reading about our lives as mothers, they can go read something else. LOL
