Looking to jazz up your burgers for the 4th of July? Try these. I've made this recipe with ground turkey several times. The whole crew likes them. I like that we're eating meat and vegetable all in one pattie!
1 lb lean or low-fat ground lamb, beef, or turkey
2 carrots, grated
3 tsp tomato puree **
2 Tbsp chopped parsley
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Vege oil, for frying
Mix the ground meat, carrots, tomato puree, and parsley in a bowl. Add salt and pepper to taste. Shape the mixture into 4 burgers.
Lightly oil a frying pan and cook the burgers for about 8 minutes on each side.
** I bought tomato puree the first time but now just use ketchup. The puree came in a humongo can, and it looked like ketchup anyway!
Enjoy! Happy 4th! And be sure to visit The Goddess, host of the latest Carnival of the Recipes, for more great recipes and ideas for your Independence Day celebrations.
Sounds yummy. I think I'll try them.

Cool. Burgers with no red meat are my kind of burgers. Happy 4th!

Any reason you couldn't grill these instead? It would be a real departure for me, who has never put anything in her burgers but ground beef!

Raehan,
Enjoy! I'm hooked.
Kristi,
That's all we eat here! Hubby doesn't do red meat.
BGM,
Go for it!! The mini-chopper is my friend with this recipe.
